The first jerseys actually produced were in December of 2014 — Eric Garner, Mike Brown, and Trayvon Martin. While the Brown jersey was made according to the earlier mock-up art, the Garner and Martin jerseys were produced in hockey designs. I got these made at a local sporting goods store, and wasn’t able to the customizations in the flat 2-d designs. Still, holding the physical garments for the first time was a powerful feeling.
Edith, Stephanie, and Nelson were the 2nd A.D., Producer, and Assistant Director of my feature film 72 Hours: a Brooklyn Love Story? We were in pre-production at the time. A character in the film wears the jerseys in each of his scenes. You can see the Oscar Grant 22 at the 1:30 mark in the trailer.
